Our sensorial shelf looks very colorful as we introduced our first sensorial unit this week on colors! Students identified colors by name, matched colors, and learned about primary and secondary colors. Our blue constructive triangles were also added to the sensorial shelf to explore different size triangles and their relationship to one another. Designs and creations can be made with this work. Cutting clay was a work on the art shelf that allows students to use scissors as they cut the clay. Wooden pre-writing boards were shown from the writing shelf to practice strengthening the three pincer grasp and track through lines or shapes. In Practical Life, stringing was added to the shelf for a fun fine motor work involving stringing beads onto a string. The sets basket was demonstrated for a math lesson. This lesson allows the student to sort out a variety of objects and then count and add the numeral to find out how many were in each set. Rolling the medicine ball is a popular gross motor work friends enjoy together as they roll the weighted ball back and forth on the movement mat. Congratulations to all the MSBG runners who participated in our Cross Country race on Thursday! Friday, we celebrated the International Day of Peace. We met as a school community, sang songs, learned about this celebration, released white doves, hung our peace flags outside that each child painted, chalked the sidewalk with our peaceful thoughts, and the kindergartners met their Peace Pal groups! What a beautiful gathering!
