November 8, 2024 EC West

The children were so excited to see her! We also introduced a new math unit on fractions! Children learn parts of a whole up to one-fourth. Our first food preparation work was grape plucking. Using hands as our prepared tools first, children plucked grapes off the vine and enjoyed eating them. We used the corn cobs from shucking kernels to roll in paint and create corn prints on paper. Our new science unit discussed the characteristics of living and non-living things. We borrowed a Quail from Upper to help introduce this unit! Our next Geography study was about our families and what families look like all over the world. We opened our bead cabinet this week as well as the lesson on squaring chains was presented sensorially. Individual lessons were also given on each chain. The chains show the concept of skip counting with numerals 1-10 and lead into multiplication facts. We also discussed Election day and had our own classroom voting booth. The EC ballot had two activity choices including an outdoor dance party or bubbles and chalk. All students casted their vote and enjoyed the activity the next day! Majority of votes went to the outdoor dance party!
