This week, we are exploring fractions on the Math Unit Shelf. The younger students will start with a whole and practice drawing, writing and reading fractions from 1/2 through 1/10. As the student grasps the concept of what a fraction is, they start discovering 4/4 is equal to 1 whole and 1/2 is equal to 2/4. They will further move on to adding/subtracting fractions with common denominators, comparing similar fractions, placing fractions on a line, and finding common denominators.
We introduced Flowers for our Botany Unit. The students learn the parts of a flower, what each part does, different types of flowers and where they are found. The weather has definitely given us Spring Fever!
