March 6, 2026 – Lower South

We hope you enjoyed Montessori Education Week last week! This week has been a return to our typical schedule, with new units being introduced and continual progression through allĀ curricular areas.

We have introduced our unit on Simple Machines onto our Science shelf, leading to many hands-on experiments throughout the classroom. The children are learning about the 6 types o f simple machines: lever, screw, wedge, wheel and axle, pulley, and inclined plane. They are also learning about the Scientific Method and implementing it into their experiments. Students first determine what question they are exploring, hypothesize, test their experiment, state their results, and come to a conclusion. We have a bunch of scientists in our classroom!
New units have also been introducedĀ on our History shelves: Lower North is currently exploring Months and Lower South is exploring Days/Holidays. The Lower classrooms will switch these units in two weeks so that every child will be able to study these works.
We ended our week with a visit from the Wood County Parks in anticipation of our next Zoology unit: Birds! The students enjoyed being able to learn all about birds.
Enjoy your weekend,
Lower South Team
