What an engaging and productive week we’ve had! In science, students learned about acid rain and pH levels. Their hands-on approach allowed them to discover and discuss various substances and their pH characteristics. I will let you ask them what substances they chose to test. Some were quite creative. History lessons took the class on a journey back in time as they studied the construction, purpose, and cultural significance of pyramids. This exploration deepened their appreciation for ancient civilizations and sparked lively discussions about these magnificent structures.

In writing, our students made significant progress by refining their topics and beginning the research phase for their papers. In biology, they worked on the Tree of Life, which not only highlighted the diversity of living organisms but also illustrated the interconnectedness of life on Earth. Mathematics was equally dynamic, as the class tackled fractions, calculated volumes, and explored the properties of shapes like rhombi, all while enhancing their fluency and problem-solving skills.

Beyond our academic endeavors, the week was filled with additional enriching experiences. We dedicated time to maintaining a clean and safe learning environment. We also practiced some social-emotional learning sessions that focused on journaling as a strategy for understanding and managing emotions. To cap off the week, the students presented some wonderfully creative homework projects, showcasing their innovative ideas and the hard work they’ve put into their passions. Looking ahead to Friday, we are excited to launch our Brown Bag cooking project, where the class will team up to bake 800 cookies—a fun challenge that promises to be both memorable and educational.
