What a full, fun week! In practical life, we explored hair grooming and wood polishing, both wonderful works to refine hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. The Snake Game was added to the Math shelf; this work teaches linear counting, reinforces the exchanging procedure, and prepares the child for addition. Our next geography unit, My Continent, was a very popular area of study this week!  We studied animals, countries, landmarks, and even the geography of North America.  We added our Montessori bead maps to the shelves, giving the children a sensorial and fine motor activity while learning about the shape of the continents. In language, we began our noun study work, The Farm!  Students use this beautiful engaging work to label different nouns as they set up their own farm. Dinosaurs were our next unit of study in Science. This work is a classroom favorite as students study different dino prints; match, sort and categorize dinosaurs and explore different dino habitats. We celebrated the first day of Spring by making dirt pudding. The kindergarten students prepared chocolate pudding, and each child used a mortar and pestle to crush cookies to make “dirt”.  We used our practical life tonging skills to add gummy worms on top. Lastly, we discussed National Children’s Dental Health Month, a time to promote the importance of good oral hygiene and regular dental care for children, while also highlighting the benefits of a healthy smile. Thank you to ECE parent, and local hygienist, Traci, for speaking to our classrooms about the importance of dental health!
