March 22, 2024 Lower South

We started the week off with our 1BookBG kickoff!  Students were introduced to their books and spent some time reading the first few pages together.  A packet of information was sent home with ideas to do as you read the books together as a family.  We will take some time each week to allow our students to share what they are learning from their books.  Hopefully, this will get everyone excited about the upcoming eclipse!

Tuesday was our Moving Up Day!! This is an exciting day for our 3rd year students who visit the Upper Elementary classroom.  It is a day for them to ask questions about the classroom, meet the teachers, and experience the day as an Upper Elementary student.  In the Lower Elementary classroom, we welcomed the kindergartners.   They shadowed a friend who gave them a tour of the classroom, answered questions, and did several activities with them.  It was a wonderful experience for all.
Finally, this week we introduced contractions to the students on the word study shelf.  Learning how to shorten two words using an apostrophe can be tricky and a challenge.  Some students never learn when to properly use contractions but that is OK.  It’s what it’s!  😉
Have a great weekend!
