Welcome back!  We hope you all enjoyed a peaceful winter break.  We began our week reviewing our classroom procedures, including how to carefully use our classroom rugs and walk safely in our environment.  The students seemed very happy to be back in the classroom!  Our first new work of January was drawing snowy scenes with chalk.  We also added Cutting a Snowflake to our art shelf.  This week also brought us new Science and Sensorial units. The students began to study Simple Machines and the science behind different types of movement and mechanics. Our new sensorial unit, Baric, was introduced and allows the study of weight differences. The small hexagon box and the rectangle box were also added to our sensorial shelves, both of which continue to reinforce geometric shapes and how they combine to form different shapes. String Cheese, our next food preparation lesson, was introduced to practical life. Students practiced using their pincer fingers to pull apart the wrapper, pull off pieces of cheese and eat their prepared snack!
