What a busy, wonderful week! We began the week tweezing beautiful sunflower seeds. This is a delicate work that relies on patience, hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills to tweeze individual seeds from a dried sunflower head. The Montessori numerical rods and numerals were added to Math – providing a concrete, tactile representation of numbers and introducing numerical value. We added color box III and the large hexagon box to sensorial. In writing, we added the inset portion to the metal insets.  Slicing wooden fruit, vegetables and bread was explored in practical life, in addition to using a baster – all works in preparation of the holidays! A bell was added to the walking on a line movement work. The direct aim of this lesson is to develop concentration, balance, coordination, and self-control by focusing on slow, smooth movements.
