January 9, 2026 – EC East

Welcome back!  We hope you all enjoyed a peaceful winter break.  We began our week reviewing our classroom procedures, including how to carefully use our classroom rugs and walk safely in our environment.  The students seemed very happy to be back in the classroom!  Our first new work of January was drawing snowy scenes with chalk. We also introduced cutting a snowflake to the art shelf and students had the opportunity to tape them to our classroom windows! Our next sensorial unit was added – smelling. The smelling cylinders are used to refine the olfactory sense through matching.  String Cheese, our next food preparation lesson, was introduced to practical life. Students practiced using their pincer fingers to pull apart the wrapper, pull off pieces of cheese and eat their prepared snack! In Math we explored the new unit of Time with second, minute and hour lessons using analogue and digital clocks, matching works and converting analogue times to digital times. The sit and spin was added to the movement shelf while the geo-solid bases and color box 5 were added to the sensorial shelf.
