May 9, 2025 EC East

Our first work of the week was taste testing chips, salsa, and guacamole in honor of Cinco de Mayo! We discussed their differences, similarities, and took a vote on our favorite. The peaceful and delicate river rocks were introduced to the movement shelf, which aims to increase balance, core strength, and stability. Our peace corner introduced a zen garden, a simple sand, stone and rake activity designed to bring calmness, concentration and peace when exploring. Our final food preparation this year was making bean burritos.  Students used all of their practical life skills to tong, spoon, roll and taste bean burritos. Straining objects to transfer one-to-one was also added to practical life, continuing to reinforce concentration, coordination, confidence and independence. The beautiful butterfly dropper work was added to art, reinforcing concentration and teaching the technique of symmetry. Lastly, we’re wishing all of our mother’s a very happy Mother’s Day – thank you for all you do!
