Our new science unit was about life cycles. We explored the life cycle of plants, insects, amphibians, and chicks. In Practical life, we used a grater to grate soap and then a hand-whisk to whisk and make bubbles! We also made bubble prints for a fun art lesson by blowing through a straw to make bubbles and placing paper over top to collect the prints. As the end of the school year approaches, our students help clean and prepare the classroom for summer. We began with chair scrubbing this week. Children enjoy these large, multiple step processes as they gather water, pour, add soap, scrub, and dry! Another popular work was added called “Going on a Picnic.” This is an extension work from table setting and slicing fruit and vegetables in the Fall. One child gets to invite another to help set up and use their imaginations to enjoy a picnic together. We also made our annual Montessori Cinnamon Bread! Each student had the opportunity to use our beautiful breadboard to make their very own loaf of bread! This work encompasses all the basic practical life skills they learned all year. These skills include the ability to measure, mix, pour, roll, shake, pound, and much more! They are very proud of doing this independently and sharing with their families at home! We hope you enjoyed it! We have many “End of the Year” activities we will take part in and an information sheet was sent home this week, please look over it carefully and save the dates!
