May 16, 2025 Upper

We had such a fantastic time at Ag Fest! It must be May, since we started our field trip with a cow jumping out of the window!

Looking ahead, next Tuesday we will be heading to City Park. We will spend the afternoon enjoying organized games, exploring nature, and using the playground equipment. We will depart from MSBG at 11:00 a.m. and kindly ask that you pick up your child directly from the park at 3:00 p.m. If your child is enrolled in aftercare, they will return to school with a teacher. If the pickup location poses a challenge, please let us know, and we will arrange an alternative. Please see the updated permission slip below. If you signed the previously emailed one labeled “Lower Elementary,” no further action is needed. Your child is all set.

Finally, mark your calendars for next Thursday’s annual bike trip. This tradition is not just about physical activity; it provides an opportunity for students to collaborate, challenge themselves, and build confidence while supporting one another. The fourth years will ride together on a 10-mile round trip to Rudolph. Fifth years will cycle 22 miles round trip to Cygnet. Sixth years will travel the entire bike trail from start to finish for a 26-mile trip. Students can come to school that day with their bike, helmet, a sack lunch, and plenty of water. They should have a bag or a place on their bike to carry their water and lunch. Students are responsible for carrying their own supplies throughout the trip. If your child is leaving their bike at school after our trip, please send them with a bike lock to keep it secure overnight. Please see the attached permission slip for more details.

We hope to see you on Thursday, May 29th, at 11:30 for our annual end-of-year picnic! Bring a blanket or chair, as the field can be quite wet. After our picnic, the PTO has planned some fun community day activities. We have dismissal at 3:00 pm. Upper teachers are also making pancakes and bacon that morning at 8:45 a.m. to celebrate the end of the year. Feel free to send your child hungry that day!
