What a busy week! We enjoyed watching the music program put on by our Lower and Upper friends. Kindergartners went on their last field trip of the school year to Wintergarden Park. They loved nature hiking with binoculars and fishing for tadpoles. Many animals were spotted and plants were identified! Our science unit study this week was all about oceans and ocean life. Students explored different kinds of seashells and learned characteristics of many ocean animals! As we begin to close down our classroom, the children take part in all the care of the environment activities. They started polishing our wooden materials and began the process of table scrubbing! Dusting and washing shelves was also a work they take pride in! A fun extension of table setting was introduced, known as going on a picnic. One friend gets to invite another to set up a picnic and choose their destination. As an Early Childhood yearly tradition, each child made their own loaf of cinnamon bread! This is a very special work that involves and encompasses all the practical life skills learned throughout the year. These skills include pouring, spooning, whisking, “pounding” dough, spreading, measuring, etc. Each loaf is uniquely made based on the child and their own skills, it is completely their own. We hope they brought it home to share with the family! Our room smelled delicious!
