March 7, 2025 Lower south

A new week along with a new month! This first full week of March has been filled with new lessons and the hopes of warmer weather coming soon! This week, two units within the science curriculum have been switched amongst the lower classrooms. These units being weather/wind and the water cycle along with clouds. In the Lower North classroom, students will have the opportunity to now learn about a variation of clouds from cumulus to stratus to cumulonimbus and discover the different phases within the water cycle from evaporation to condensation to precipitation. In the Lower South classroom, students can now explore works that teach them about different types of weather including tornados, hurricanes, hail, rain, and much more! Within the weather unit, students will also be introduced to weather maps along with different weather symbols. Some works will also discuss wind, how it works along with how it is measured.

Aside from the science units, the students have moved on from learning about presidents to now gaining knowledge on Indigenous People. This history unit allows children to discover information about Indigenous People and what makes them so unique. As children explore the works on the shelf, they will begin to understand their lifestyles from the clothing they wear, the food they eat, the tools they use, and the different cultures/traditions they honor. Students will also learn about the different tribes and the tribe’s locations along with the types of homes they live in for shelter.

Lastly, this week the 3rd year students had the opportunity to visit the Upper classroom for their “Moving Up” Day! The 3rd year visited for the whole morning on Tuesday. They explored the Upper classroom along with sat in on some lessons, spent time with the teachers and the upper students, and were able to ask questions. The “Moving Up” Days are something students often look forward to. This special learning experience helps prepare students who are transitioning into a new classroom the following school year at MSBG!
