It was a busy week in Early Childhood East! Our lessons began with the introduction of our new science unit – Transportation! This work explores different forms of vehicle movement and allows the students to use their imagination while learning what types of vehicles move between land, air and water. These lessons also included an art component, making tire tracks with paint! In Practical Life, diapering and swaddling a baby doll was added in addition to water transfer using a garlic or tea press. The Smelling Bottles, our next Sensorial unit, were presented and are used to refine the olfactory sense through matching. Our teachers prepare the bottles with a variety of pairs of essential oil scents making this a very unique experience. Finally, in Math, we added Odd/Even to our shelf. This work introduces the abstract concept of odd and even numbers visually. Our Kindergartners had the wonderful opportunity to “Move-Up” to one of our Lower classrooms and were paired with a peer for the morning.
