We began the week with a new Math work, the Estimation Jar. This work allows the student to use their understanding of quantity to estimate the number of items in a sealed jar. We count and discover the real number at the end of the week. Our next geography unit, My Continent, was a very popular area of study this week. We explored animals, countries, landmarks, and even the geography of North America. We added our Montessori bead maps to the shelves, giving the children a sensorial and fine motor activity while learning about the shape of the continents. A new science unit was also introduced this week, Rocks and Minerals. These lessons emphasize observation and classification through hands-on exploration and are meant to foster a love for nature and life science. Additionally, the yoga cards were added to the Movement shelf and the Peace Liquid Tile was added to our Peace curriculum.
