As our month of January continues, many of our students are well established and know the routine of the classroom. We hope you saw this during your visit on Thursday at Curriculum Night. If you were not able to join us, please take some time to visit during a school day and have your child share the work that they have been doing. Please check with us so that we can check our schedule for a good time to visit.
This week we introduced two new units. In zoology, the students were presented with amphibian work. They have been able to explore nomenclature work regarding the external parts of the frog and the internal parts of the frog along with their functions. In addition, the amphibian work includes activities that teach children about the life cycle of the frog and the many amphibians that live on different continents all around the world.
Aside from the new zoology work, students were also introduced to a new unit in word study. We are focusing on synonyms. This unit allows children the opportunity to learn about many words that mean the same thing. Some of these works include matching synonym work along with worksheets to heighten the understanding of synonyms. This language unit not only encompasses children learning all about synonyms, but also allows for vocabulary enrichment to ensue.
Have a wonderful weekend!
