February 6, 2026 – EC West

Happy February! Did you hear that Groundhog Phil predicted six more weeks of winter weather? The winter weather goes right along with our new science unit this week on animal tracks. Many deer tracks have been spotted in the snow! Students learned about a variety of animals and what their tracks look like. They enjoyed stamping prints onto paper. The thick line cards were added to our Geometric cabinet for another matching activity with our two-dimensional shapes. Art lessons this week included painting a heart at the Easel and using paper punches to punch shapes into paper. A sensory art lesson included using a bag of water to dip in paint and make rose prints! In Practical Life we introduced locks and keys for a fun fine motor life skill! They had to match keys to open different kinds of locks! Our light table was added to the classroom for a beautiful sensorial exploration. Our food preparation was slicing bananas! The kindergartners also had a math lesson on the 1,000 roll. This number work focuses on writing the numerals 1-1,000 on paper color coded by place value.
