Happy Montessori Ed Week! This week has been filled with joy and creativity—from our lively assembly and silly dress/hair day to the delightful teacher dress-up day, where our students charmed us with their impressions. We are also incredibly grateful to the parents and the PTO for treating us to a delicious lunch today!
Despite the wacky attire, we had a pretty normal week this week. In Science, students delved into the Earth’s cycles, while in History, they deciphered the secrets of hieroglyphics. Biology saw an exploration of the kidney (and of Lucy’s dead fingernail under a microscope!). In writing class, students honed their skills with formal letters and mapped out a timeline of Maria Montessori’s life. One student was even inspired to write a research essay on Maria Montessori! In Math, learners tackled real-world applications by calculating the perimeter and area of our classroom—and some even ventured into other classrooms! If your child suddenly starts measuring the living room, you’ll know why. To wrap up the school year, daily math practice sessions have been introduced, where students spend about 15 minutes each day independently reviewing key concepts alongside their regular lessons. In addition to all the fun lessons, we had some fantastic homework project presentations.
Looking ahead, Wednesday, March 12, will be our Pi Day celebration. Although Pi Day is traditionally celebrated on March 14 in honor of the mathematical constant (3.14), we’ll be marking the occasion on the 12th this year. Our festivities will include a lighthearted Pi recitation contest, the sharing of Pi jokes, a brief exploration of Archimedes’ contributions, and, of course, plenty of pie! Thank you for your continued support and for making our classroom a vibrant and exciting place to learn!
