February 21, 2025 Middle School

Hello everyone!
We have made it through our winter conferences and progress reports! This means we have begun practicing some new material in earnest.
In Science, we are focusing our energy on the history of Earth; primarily, how water, wind, and time have affected Earth’s crust, as well as how we got to understand that information.
In History, we are covering the rise of Fascism in Europe after the Treaty of Versailles. Specifically, regarding Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini. We will be going into detail about how The Great Depression in the U.S. had an effect on global trade and helped lead to economic turmoil in Europe.
We have finished reading Ready Player One, and are nearing the end of our run of movies referenced in the book. The class has voted to extend our movie watching by a week so that we can watch The Last Starfighter (2/26). Our next book choices will beĀ Night, by Elie Wiesel, and The Book Thief, by Marcus Zusak.
We will also be starting our next elective cycle, which will include Cooking lessons, 3D Design, and Guitar lessons. Students can choose up to 2 of them.
Details are being ironed out for our upcoming trip to Washington, D.C., so be on the lookout for more details coming in the next week (or so).
That’s all for now. Tune in for our next episode, titled, “Mi Cough es Su Cough” or “Hey, Can This Go In The Microwave?”
