April 3, 2026 – Lower South

This week students were presented with a new history unit in both of the classrooms. In Lower North, students were given a lesson on Famous Americans. While this history unit is out students will have the opportunity to learn about different Americans who have changed the world throughout the years. Some of these Famous Americans include, The Wright Brothers, Neil Armstrong, Abraham Lincoln, Helen Keller, and many more. Students will explore different works on the shelf from making books to creating biographies. In Lower South, students were presented with a lesson over U.S. Presidents. Students will be learning about different presidents, such as, Grover Cleveland, Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Calvin Coolidge, etc. While exploring president work on the history shelf, students will obtain knowledge on how many terms did each president serve, which number each president was, background information of each president, and other interesting facts. Students will also have the opportunity to create their own timeline of presidents, learn about the requirements needed to be a U.S. President, and facts about the White House.

Aside from the new history units, a few highlights took place this week in the Lower Elementary classrooms. On Wednesday, students had the opportunity to partake in a special lesson presented by the Wood County Parks. This lesson informed students on many different mammals, as we will be studying them next for our final vertebrate classification unit of the school year! In addition, the second year students were given their very first lesson for their State Research projects. The second year students will be given a total of six additional lessons over the next several weeks to prepare and help guide them in reaching their goal of creating a poster along with a written report. The poster and written report will be over whichever state they were able to choose for their State Research project. This year the second year students will be doing their research projects on one of the 13 western states. Lastly, the week was able to wrap up on Friday with a fun-filled spring party. The students were able to make a snack, partake in craft making, and play games. Everyone had a lot of fun and we cannot thank our room parents along with all the other parent volunteers that allowed for this party to take place!

We hope all our families have a blessed Easter and a relaxing spring break! We look forward to seeing everyone back to school on Monday, April 13th!
