Happy Montessori Education Week! We loved celebrating Montessori with all of our students and families this week. We dressed as students, celebrated our teachers, beautified our school, donated cat and dog food to a local food bank, supported our communities, and enjoyed a special PJ Day! We created peace people in art and added them to our peace corner to represent each individual in our class community! Also, we added water transfer works to our practical life shelves and enjoyed another food prep lesson, Ants on a Log. For this lesson, students tong celery, spread cream cheese and used their pincers to add raisins. In sensorial, we introduced bell matching, an excellent way for students to train the ear to recognize matching notes throughout the C scale. A new sensorial unit was also introduced, Thermic, allowing students to develop temperature discrimination by matching/ordering pairs of tables made from materials with distinct heat-conducting properties.
This Friday we began sending home a game bag! This activity is for families to explore at their leisure throughout the weekend, focusing on foundational early learning skills. One child’s name will be drawn each Friday for this special work.
