We began our week with new practical life work – opening and closing and tonging one-to-one. We utilized our fine motor skills to transfer along with learning the skills of open, twist, and zip. On the art shelf, we created collages using our torn paper from our work last week. The sensorial curriculum added our brown prisms, learning about thick and thin. In peace, we added our worry stones to help our minds calm when we are feeling worried. We also added our friendship tree to the peace area. This special activity encourages the child to put an item on the tree if they have done or said something kind in our classroom. Our classroom community also collected and painted our individual peace sticks for a special Montessori peace activity later in the month. We began our Handwriting Curriculum this week for our kindergartens and younger friends ready for writing folders. Initial lessons are primarily focused on pencil grip and correct letter formation.
