Welcome back! Thank you again to all the families for your time and conversation during conferences! Students were able to enjoy another practical life food preparation work this week, Spreading Jam on a Cracker. This lesson emphasizes the skill of holding and using a spreader, concentrating on spreading jam, and of course eating the finished work! In Geography, we introduced the next unit My Country. Many USA works were explored, including several national symbols, our flag, and unique cities and monuments around the country. These lessons continue to expose students to geographic locations they are part of while cultivating a respect and appreciation of their environments. Nuts and Bolts, our new sensorial unit, was introduced and continues to emphasize the importance of concentration and independence and strengthen the childs’ fine motor skills and coordination. In art we explored water color and pouring one-to-one with water was added to our practical life shelf, while in math we added the Mystery Number. Next week we’re excited to celebrate Montessori Education with special activities planned for each day!
