We hope everyone enjoyed their Labor Day weekend! We continued our fine motor skills this week in Practical Life through our fine motor baskets. Fine motor baskets include items for the students to manipulate skills such as zipping, snapping, opening/closing, and twisting. Our first dressing frame was added to the classroom to help with the care of oneself. This was the zipping dressing frame. Our first geography lesson on our globes and the hemisphere map was shown. Children learn the names of the seven continents. We went outside and gathered our “peace sticks.” Students were invited to find one stick to represent themselves that we later painted. For art, we used our torn paper from last week to glue and create collages! We also added Color box 1 to our sensorial shelf which introduces the primary colors of red, blue, and yellow. The red rods were also introduced in sensorial which uses visual discrimination of long vs. short.
