The students packed a lot of learning into these few days. In history, we studied the Native American timeline, talking about the depth, resilience, and diversity of Indigenous cultures. We also began examining the early European explorers. These conversations are helping students think critically about history, perspective, and the many voices that shape our story.
In math, students dove into fractions and practiced writing out numerals. They also had their first geometry lesson of the year, which sparked lots of curiosity and excitement. 0-dimensional figures were the topic of discussion! In spelling, the focus was on the long A sound, giving students a chance to practice patterns and rules while strengthening their spelling strategies. In science, we began our study of matter and energy, laying the groundwork for future experiments and discoveries.
We also had our very first Literature Circle discussion. It went wonderfully, and everyone is already learning how to share ideas, listen to others, and grow together. A special highlight this week: our very own Boudi subbed for our Spanish teacher and did a fantastic job teaching Spanish lessons to both the Lower and EC classes!
We are looking forward to our first field trip on Friday, October 18th, to Fort Meigs. This visit will directly tie into our American History studies, giving students the chance to walk through history and imagine what life was like at this important War of 1812 fort. A big thank-you to those who have already offered to drive! We still need a few more drivers and chaperones, so if you are interested, please reach out and let us know how many students you can take.
