Several practical life lessons were added to the classroom this week! Pounding was introduced, allowing children to refine their hand-eye coordination and strengthen hand muscles. Changing a toilet paper roll, using a stapler and the zipper, tip, and toggle dressing frames were also added. These everyday works aim to develop fine motor skills and independence. We also enjoyed Pickle Tasting, a fun Gustatory lesson comparing sweet and dill pickles. In Science, we began the study of Land, Air, and Water, and aim to encourage exploration and a greater understanding of their environments around them. Children also had the opportunity to explore Rough and Smooth, our new sensorial unit. Works include the Montessori sandpaper boards and everyday objects with different textures. These lessons encourage tactile exploration and allow children to differentiate textures and develop their tactile sense without engaging their vision.
