Sensory experiences were a big part of our work this week! The Sound/No Sound unit was added to our sensorial shelf. This work aims to refine the sense of sound while students explore matching sound cylinders, mystery bags of differing sounds, and using a quiet rug. The quiet rug is a special work in the classroom where the child practices making silence-which is one of the most challenging movement works at this age! The singing bowl was added to our peace area, a beautiful and peaceful activity that focuses on using sound as relaxation. In movement, students had the opportunity to explore walking a line with a bell, another work aimed at concentration and coordination. In practical life, slicing velcro fruit and veggies were added, a fun work that teaches the new skill of slicing. We also added Changing a Toilet Paper Roll and Using a Baster to our practical life shelves. In writing, we added the inset portion to the metal insets. The cube of the trinomial and the geo cabinet were also added to our sensorial shelves.
