Early Childhood was full of festive fall works this week! We enjoyed drawing a face on a pumpkin, pounding golf tees into a pumpkin, and carving a real pumpkin into a jack-o-lantern! The community decided on what shape eyes, nose, and type of mouth to carve. The parts of a pumpkin were discussed and each child had the opportunity to scoop a handful of pulp out. We roasted the pumpkin seeds and tasted them together! A fun art work included making a spider web out of paint by rolling a marble over black construction paper. A halloween themed sensory bowl was explored as friends sifted and discovered objects. On Thursday we celebrated with our Harvest party! Friends made two crafts, played ghost bowling and pumpkin/gourd tic tac toe, and listened to Spookley the Square Pumpkin story while making their own Spookley treat. We also played one of our favorite classroom games called “Who’s the Ghost?” Thank you to all of our parent volunteers for donating time or items for this week! We appreciate your support! We ended the week with a demonstration one the Geometric Cabinet first tray to introduce geometric shapes. Many friends have been interested in braiding hair, so we added the braid board to our practical life shelf for them to practice their skills and meet their interest! Kindergartners had their first field trip to the Pumpkin Peddler this week. It was a warm, beautiful day to pick pumpkins from the patch, enjoy a hayride, the maze, and enjoy our community together! Younger friends also enjoyed their own pumpkin hunt at school!
