We had many new units of study this week! In Practical Life, we added hair care where children used a variety of tools to take care of and groom a variety of hairstyles and hair lengths. This work helps prepare them to develop their own self-care routine and skills. In science, we discovered and learned all about dinosaurs! Students learned about the names of dinosaurs, what they look like, and even had the opportunity to be paleontologists as they used tools to uncover dinosaur bones. Our next Sensorial unit was also introduced this week, about pressure cylinders. The class used their sense of touch to feel different amounts of pressure and resistance as they pushed down on the cylinders. We also added the geometric thin line cards to our geometric cabinet. This fully completes the lessons for this beautiful work! Using the balance board was a fun, new movement activity and the rainstick was shown in our peace area to listen to different sounds of rain. Kindergarten friends were able to experience their “moving up” day this week! They went to one of the Lower Classrooms to work with a friend and check out all the room entails! Kindergartners also had a lesson on the 1,000 roll. This math work allows the child to write each number, color-coded by place value from 1-1,000. Once accomplished, they get to roll it out in our hallway to see how long it is! The Farm lesson on grammar and nouns was also given to the Kindergartners. Younger friends are welcome to join and help set up the farm as the Kindergartners identify and label the names of all the nouns found in this small environment work.
