Welcome Back to MSBG!
With Orientation Week in the rearview mirror, I wanted to share with you some of the things we will be doing throughout the next few weeks.
Firstly, our Fall Camping trip is fast approaching. This is a great opportunity for our adolescents to start the new year by bonding and sharing a night out under the stars. Attached, you will find the information packet (that was also sent home with the students). If you have any questions about the trip, please reach out.
Upon returning from this trip, we will be preparing to start up our microeconomics project, Mustang Cafe. The students will learn a trade skill and run the business themselves. Since they are the ones running it, I don’t have more information to give you just yet, but expect something soon.
On the academic side of things, we have introduced our Chemistry unit with a “Mystery Mixture” that the students will need to identify through experimentation. Our History unit begins with a brief overview of the Civil War, then turning a deeper focus on Reconstruction, Expansion, and the Second Industrial Revolution (Gilded Age). As always, Math is highly individualized, but with a focus on Statistics and Probability to begin the year. Writing will start as a refresher on Pre-writing, Brainstorming, and Proofreading activities, before separating into grade-level writing challenges.
Most of the Specials begin this coming week, so your adolescent will be starting Art, Music, P.E. (with the classroom teachers). and Band (if they do that). Spanish will start after Labor Day.
I’m looking forward to a bright, vibrant year in the MSBG Middle School!
