May 15, 2026 – EC West

We began the week with our EC music program and are so proud of their performance! In practical life we learned how to hang clothes on hangers, another skill to practice in the home during laundry days! Our new science unit was all about insects and the class was very excited to explore their curiosity about butterflies, beetles, praying mantis, centipedes, bees, and SO much more! They also labeled parts of insects and used their fingerprints to make bug art! As we end the school year, the class takes ownership in cleaning our environment. We started this process by polishing our very own wooden classroom materials, cherishing our favorites like the pink cubes and red rods while giving them the deep cleaning they need! This was also the week we engaged in our annual bread making. Each child had the opportunity to use all their practical life skills they developed over the school year to pour into their very own loaf of bread. From pouring, stirring, measuring, rolling, mixing, kneading, pounding dough, and shaking cinnamon, the hallways were filled with the sweet smell of baked bread and hearts were filled with pride and independence. The week ended with a large gross motor lesson; jumping on the trampoline. Another big work that encompasses many small movement skills.
