What a BUSY week! We started off enjoying our school’s band concert, the children always love watching and hearing the instruments. Our last two Geography Units were presented, My World and My Universe, encouraging students to study all the continents, waters, bead maps and continent pin punching! My Universe focuses primarily on the planets, solar system, moon phases and offers a glimpse of our universe as a whole.  These two units are the capstone of our Montessori Geography curriculum and aim to allow the child to formulate an understanding of “ME and My Place in This Universe”.

In observance of Cinco De Mayo, we taste-tested chips, salsa and guacamole! Also on Tuesday, our Kindergarteners took their final field trip to Wintergarden Park for a nature walk and to look for tadpoles. Our last food preparation this year was making bean burritos.  Students used all of their practical life skills to tong, spoon, roll and taste bean burritos. Our Peace Corner introduced a Zen Garden, a simple sand, stone and rake activity designed to bring calmness, concentration and peace when exploring. Lastly, our final sensorial unit was presented- Baric. Students explored the study of weight using baric cylinders and a scale to measure the weight of differing objects. Our class worked on a very special Mother’s Day project; Happy Mothers Day to all our families!
