May 1, 2026 – EC East

What a busy week of study and exploration! In geography, our new continent of study was Australia.  Students explored the animals, people and culture of this continent using works such as the bead maps, 3-part nomenclature cards and regional maps of Australia. In Practical Life, fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination skills were honed as students explored tweezing lavender.  Our new Science unit was Insects! Students explored different types, characteristics and habitats and of all kinds of bugs.  Works included 3-part cards, matching, sorting, insect booklets and using magnifying glasses for deeper exploration. An exciting new food prep lesson was presented – preparing spinach strawberry salad. Students sliced strawberries, tonged spinach and poured dressing. The Baric unit was added to Sensorial, allowing the study of weight while the Butterfly dropper art and pins in a shaker were added to our Art and Practical Life Shelves. Some of our toddler friends had their “moving up” days this week and we welcomed them to our classroom and showed them some works!
