February 20, 2026 – EC West

A shorter, but very busy week! We began the week discussing the Chinese New Year. We celebrated by parading around the school in our Dragon Masks and Tails, dancing to music in all the classrooms! The students also learned that this year is the year of the horse. They each found out what animal is associated with their birth year and had the opportunity to color that animal and discover character traits that went along with it. Another art project on the art shelf this week was making a mardi gras mask in honor of mardi gras. Our new food preparation was making cinnamon toast using a toaster, spreading butter, and sprinkling on cinnamon sugar. The rectangle box was added to our sensorial shelf introducing vocabulary for parallelogram, square, trapezoid, and rectangle. Practical Life work led us to discover how to use nuts and bolts, a fun twisting work for fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination! The mystery number was added to the math shelf. This work introduces looking at objects and writing down the corresponding numeral on paper. The paper then goes into a box that we solve as a community at the end of each week! Our new geography unit was about my country; The United States of America. Works included flag folding, and learning about national landmarks, monuments, and symbols.
