This week we began by learning about the Chinese New Year and its customs and traditions. Students had the opportunity to make their own dragon mask and partake in a Chinese New Year parade through the school. In practical life, Locks and Keys were introduced, a fine-motor activity that requires a lot of concentration and hand-eye coordination. We also added pouring water 1-to-1 and explored our next food prep lesson – cinnamon sugar toast. The kindergarteners assisted with making toast, while all students practiced their skills of tonging a slice, spreading butter, shaking cinnamon and using a knife to cut in half. In Art, students explored watercolor and in Geography we learned about the next unit, My Country. These works focus on the attributes of the United States and locations within our country. The trinomial cube was added to Sensorial and the wooden balance board was added to our Movement shelf.
