Happy October! This week, we introduced our first geography unit on “Me!” In Early childhood, we begin the cosmic education approach and start with our own place in the world and how we are one person unique and special. With this unit, we learn about the parts of our bodies and what can be found inside our bodies. We talk about how we look the same yet different like skin color, hair color, and eye color. We added color box 2 to our sensorial shelf to continue matching all the color tablets and the monomial cube was introduced. The monomial cube is explored sensorially at our level using cubes and prisms to make a larger cube. Our next sensorial unit study is all about rough and smooth. We used our sense of touch to feel and discriminate between the two textures. In math, a lesson on the “memory game” was shown. With this work, friends will choose a number 1-10 and keep it in their memory as they walk to a bowl of gems to count out and bring back. A fun way to do 1-1 correspondence! The EC community enjoyed a special presentation this week from one of our families on Rosh Hashanah; the Jewish New Year. It was a fun, interactive way to learn about their customs, traditions, and culture! Everyone had the opportunity to taste apples and honey in honor of this family’s “sweet new year” celebration. Peace Pal groups began for our Kindergartners this week as well. Thank you to everyone who attended our school’s Journey Event!
