This week, we began a new Science Unit, Trees and Leaves. Works include matching leaves, sorting types, 3-part nomenclature cards, writing booklets, tissue paper tree art and tree rubbings. A special leaf art was added using a dish brush in paint to simulate leaves on a tree. We also introduced ‘Floor sweeping’ to practical life. In Sensorial, students explored our Red Length Rods, teaching visual discrimination of size. We also demonstrated the blue constructive triangles to explore the ideas of equivalency and symmetry. Today, our Early Childhood classrooms had a special presentation from the Wood County Hospital called “Hi-Five” that demonstrated the importance of washing our hands properly to keep them free of germs!
