November 7, 2025 EC East

Sensorial experiences were a large part of learning in Early Childhood East this week! We introduced the binomial cube, the triangle box, and the geometric cabinet. All of these works reinforce visual discrimination, spatial awareness, and fine motor skills. The next unit, My Family, was added to the Geography shelf, while Living/Non-Living was introduced as our Science unit. Our next practical life food prep lesson was demonstrated – ladling vegetable soup. This was a fun work for students, allowing them to practice using a ladle while also trying a healthy, warm snack! In pre-writing, pin-punching was added. This fine-motor activity aims to lengthen concentration and strengthen hand-eye coordination and finger/hand muscles, all in preparation for holding a pencil and writing. Finally, we added the orange stepper to our movement shelf this week, giving children the opportunity to choose another way to get movement in while using our yoga mat in the classroom.
