The month of January has quickly come upon us and is already reaching its end. As the second half of the school year continues, the children show their love of learning new information each and every day. This being a short week, there were no new unit lessons given. However, a continual exploration of the shelves in the classrooms occurred. A glimpse into the math, language, and cultural units being studied in both of the lower classroom environments includes:
For math, students in Lower North are learning about time while in the Lower South classroom they are learning about money. For language, students continue to work on organizing words in alphabetical order along with gaining knowledge on reading and guiding themselves through a dictionary. In addition, children work on building their grammar skills through learning about different parts of speech along with exploring the grammar environments. Second and third year students also partake in learning how to break apart sentences through sentence analysis lessons.
Aside from the math and language concepts, the cultural units being studied include, the skeletal system in Lower South and the muscular system in Lower North for science, the overview of biomes along with the flags unit for geography, and the amphibians unit for zoology. As the rest of the school year begins to unfold, the teachers look forward to the many learning experiences that are yet to come!
As a gentle reminder we will still be celebrating the 100th Day of School on Thursday, January 29th. We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and stay warm!
Best,
The Lower Team
