Welcome back! We hope you had a relaxing and peaceful break. We have had some winter weather and that offers a good opportunity for some winter reminders. Please make sure that you check the temperature as you prepare for the day. We will typically go outdoors for recess unless the temperature is at an unsafe degree. With this in mind, we suggest coming to school with snow pants, boots, gloves and a hat. We do ask that your child stays on their feet if they do not have snow pants. We do not have extra clothing at the LE level to change into. You do have the option to leave your child’s snow pants hanging in the coatroom throughout the week if that is helpful. We strongly encourage that you label each article of clothing with your child’s name or initials. While we do our best to help them stay organized, it is ot uncommon to mix up snow pants or lose a glove.
In the classroom we have begun to study science. The Lower South room is studying the Muscular System, while the Lower North room is studying the Skeletal System. After a few weeks, the classrooms will switch units. To go along with these units, the Wood County Hospital is coming to introduce their Fitness is Fun Program to our students next week.
While individual math and language lessons continue in the classroom, small groups of students have begun analyzing sentences for their grammar responsibility. Montessori sentence analysis allows the students to use the grammar symbols that they have learned to break down sentences in a hands-on way. This shows them a visual of the parts of a sentence and how they work together, such as the subject, verb and objects.
Have a great weekend!
