Though the winter holidays are quickly approaching, the students in both Lower Elementary classrooms have continued working hard. The children have been exploring many new units out on the shelves. This week the students were introduced to a couple of new units. For word study, the students received a lesson on ABC order. This unit allows exploration with object baskets along with other works on the shelf. While exploring this language unit, children will practice putting words in alphabetical order. Additionally, students will gain dictionary reading skills through the dictionary work also included on the shelf.
Aside from the ABC order unit, the students have been presented with a new geography unit. This unit stems from the previous “reading a map” unit the children have been exploring the past month. This new map unit will allow the students to apply their mapping skills while reading directions for a variety of different types of maps. These maps including, treasure maps, zoo maps, United States maps, and city maps.
Lastly, we wanted to thank all the families who generously donated coins to the coin drive. We appreciate your thoughtfulness so much!
Have a wonderful weekend,
The Lower Team
