August 29, 2025 Upper

We had a fantastic first week of school, filled with creativity, exploration, and a lot of science experiments! The children’s kindness, curiosity, and enthusiasm set such a positive tone for our community. It already feels like a caring, supportive, and inspiring place to learn together. To help build our parent community, I’ve attached a contact list below.

The transition from Lower Elementary to Upper Elementary marks a significant shift as students move from the concrete world of their earlier years into the threshold of abstract thinking. With this new stage comes greater freedom, added responsibilities, and the introduction of due dates. To help ease this adjustment, we take the first week at a slower pace. Our fourth years face many changes, but they are supported every step of the way by our wonderful fifth- and sixth-year leaders. Speaking of leadership, our fifth years attended their first Safety Patrol meeting today and will be bringing home application papers for those interested in serving as Lieutenant, Captain, or Sergeant.

This week, we began shifting to our regular curriculum and schedule, including specials, and introducing Bosco! For those who are unfamiliar, Bosco is my long-time medical alert dog. He is now almost 18, and although he is no longer the astute worker he once was, he remains helpful and has become a part of our community. We also started our first Literature Circle assignment today. Look for a book and instructions to come home.

Thank you for your continued support and for sharing your children with us. I am so grateful to spend my days with them, and I look forward to all the discoveries, growth, and adventures this year will bring!
