We want to thank you for taking the time to meet with us last week for conferences. It is always nice to sit down with you and share all the work that your student does throughout the week, and clarify any questions that you may have.
This week, we have begun studying Fossils. This unit allows your child to go through the Timeline of Life and explore the periods and eras that have occurred before we were here. Within these periods and eras, they are able to observe fossils that were found at these times. This triggers the curiosity to discover fossils on our playground and in their own backyard!
We have also begun studying compound words for our Word Study. We introduce this by showing how compound words are made from two preexisting words, but when we put them together, they have a whole new meaning. We emphasize the importance of removing the space between the two words if we are intending on it being the compound word when writing. An example of this is: dog and house becomes doghouse.
We wish you a safe and fun Halloween weekend.
