Here’s the weekly update from the MSBG Adolescent Classroom! Below you’ll find important upcoming dates, followed by highlights from our work together last week.
In the Classroom
Science
Our trip to the Ecology Research Station was a fun and informative look into how experiments work in a research setting, as well as how important our natural wetlands are to the preservation of our local ecosystems and our drinking water. We look forward to looking at the results once the analysis of the data has concluded. A big thanks to Kevin McCluney for putting this together for us.
Literature
We will be having our final discussion about The Outsiders around the campfire on Tuesday. This will involve a culminating group activity to solidify the students’ understanding of the material: stereotypes, societal norms and pressures, surrogate family, empathy and the futility of violence, and preservation of innocence.
Looking Ahead
Our next Parent Education Night, The Montessori Journey, will be held on October 2, 2025. Families will walk through the school to see the full Montessori path from Early Childhood through Adolescence. Parents will also get hands-on time with classroom materials that form the backbone of a Montessori education.
That’s it for this week! As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Jeremy or Kayla at middle@montessorischoolbg.org. We’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
Stay tuned for next week’s update, titled: “Under the Weather” or “Rain Check, Please!”
Stay Gold,
Jeremy & Kayla
