January 23, 2026 – Early Childhood East

What a short week to celebrate Martin Luther King Day and a surprise snow day! The students enjoyed being back together exploring so many of the works that have been presented this second half of the school year. Practical Life, Art and Sensorial lessons were the focus this week. Students were introduced to using a funnel to transfer one-to-one, continuing to reinforce concentration, coordination, confidence and independence.  We also added a listening center to our classroom where students can choose to listen to a book on cd.  In art, the Positive/Negative Snowman was added, using scissors to cut out a snowman and using both sides to display. Sound vs No Sound, our new Sensorial unit, aims to develop auditory discrimination. Works include the sound cylinders, mystery bag, matching and grading sounds. The sound damper was also added to the Bell Cabinet. Lastly, our kindergartners began our creative writing curriculum this week! These lessons aim to teach the student a way to communicate through writing, promote self-expression and find their voice as a writer!

As a gentle reminder we will still be celebrating the 100th Day of School on Thursday, January 29th. We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and stay warm!
