Our first full week of school has brought many new works and exciting activities! Specials started this week for the students including music, spanish, Kindergarten Art, and Kindergarten P.E! More areas of the classrooms were opened and introduced including our Peace Corner, Sensorial area, and the movement shelf.
Within the Peace corner, the peace rose was introduced which is a concrete way to solve problems with a friend using “I-messages.” Worry stones were also shown as a way to think about anything that may be on our minds a lot and then placing the stone in a box where it can remain and our bodies can start to feel more at peace with the worry.
In Sensorial the pink cubes, brown prisms, knobbed and knobless cylinders were shown. All of these beautiful wooden works explore visual discrimination skills such as large to small and thick to thin.
The first movement lesson was demonstrated; walking on a line. Finding out balance as the body moves slow and steady.
Many grace and courtesy lessons were discussed this week as well as we continue to focus on the foundation of our classroom environment.
We wanted to thank everyone for their patience this week as we navigate car-line procedures and family schedules! We will be communicating with you soon on our Seesaw program that we will begin using for daily communication! Thank you for an amazing first full week!
