Painting at the easel was one new experience introduced this week in Early Childhood. Using red paint, students could use the easel to paint an apple, extending our apple unit in Science. Along with this unit, we taste-tested different types of apples: Gala, Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, and Granny Smith! This activity was done on the line as a whole-group experience. Also this week, students learned the skill of floor sweeping.
Our classrooms enjoyed a special hand washing program from the Wood County Hospital this week-the High-Five program. We learned about germs and how they spread, and how appropriate hand washing can help us all stay healthy.
In the East classroom, we introduced another activity on our writing shelf, the metal inset frames. In Sensorial, the red rods were demonstrated. In West, the pre-writing boards were introduced along with table scrubbing in Practical Life. In Sensorial, the red rods and also the 3-D geometric solids of cube, cone, and cylinder were demonstrated. Peace lessons this week included people around the world and also people with different abilities.
Thank you to all of the families who donated apples for our science unit! We greatly appreciate your support.
