We continued studying leaves and trees as we headed outdoors for a hike and tree rubbings. The use of scissors was introduced as children cut clay. Our snapping dressing frame was added to our care of oneself work, and floor sweeping was demonstrated for the care of our environment work. Our first Sensorial unit was on colors. Children explore and identify the colors in many ways. In Math, the sets basket was added to the shelf where children sort objects into piles and then count to see what quantity each set has. Thursday, we celebrated and observed the International Day of Peace. Thank you for wearing the color red! We met as a whole school by our peace pole as we sang “Light a Candle for Peace,” followed by a discussion on this year’s theme of calling for actions for peace. Our Kindergarteners were introduced to their Peace Pal group. These groups meet bi-weekly, peer-led by the oldest students in the school, to learn and support a peace curriculum involving peace lessons within ourselves, school, community, and globally into the world. Everyone enjoyed “chalking the walk” with pictures or words that were peaceful to them. We also had our MSBG annual Cross Country race and are so proud of our Kindergarteners who participated and put forth their best effort!
